FAQs

We often get calls or mails with questions regarding our saddles, that’s why we wanted to give you some quick answers to the most asked questions.

Please do not hesitate to contact us via the contact form or by phone! We of course like to give you personal, individual advise.

Can the gullet angle be adjusted on my saddle?
Yes! Thanks to our SoftSwing saddle tree, the gullet angle of your saddle can be flexible adjusted several hundred times.
Our standard gullet angles are 34 (medium – standard on delivery), 32 (narrow) or 36 (wide).
Nevertheless can adjust your saddle also individually.

How can I measure the gullett angle of my saddle?
Unfortunately, this is not possible because it is measured with a special measuring tool.
You are welcome to send in your saddle to us. We do not charge for this service.
You would have to pay for the return shipment only.

Can every saddler adjust the gullet angle?
Yes. Each saddler, with a cold saddle press, can change the gullet angle of our saddles.

Can I send in my saddle to change the gullet angle?
Sure! You are welcome to send your saddle to us. We then adjust the gullet angle regarding
your instruction. For this service the saddle is usually only 1-2 days in our house. The adjustment costs 25,00 € plus shipping fee.

Does my saddle have a wool or latex pillow?
Professionals can actually feel or see that directly because the pillow behaves differently depending on the material. However, there is a very simple trick with which you can become a saddle pro, too!
On our saddles, the wool pillows have a lateral, continuous horizontal seam. The
Latex pillows, however, are completely smooth and have no seam. That’s how you can see with just a glance, if it's a latex or wool pillow.
Not sure? Send us an email with a side photo of your saddle to saddleservice@topreiter.de

What information is stored about the serial number of the saddle?
Here the answer is relatively sober: None.
The serial number serves only as a proof of ownership for you. That means: Together with the
Bill or the saddle pass you can prove by the serial number that it is your saddle. This is interesting, for example, in case of theft or if you would like to buy an used saddle. Here you should always have the saddle pass handed to you.

How can I read out the serial number of my saddle?
Normally every veterinarian can read that out for you, by scanning the chip. The chip is usually in the
left thumb of the saddle. However, you are welcome to send in your saddle to us.
This service is free, we only charge the return shipping.

Do you also sell used saddles?
Yes and no. We also have used saddles, but these are our test saddles, which have only been once
or twice on a horse. So they are not really used, but have first traces of tracking. Therefore these saddles are only slightly cheaper as a brand new saddle. We do not offer used saddles in the “traditional” way.

Which saddle is the best?
A saddle is the most important link between horse and rider and should always be very
individually selected and adapted, as well as horse and rider are completely individual.
Just so many factors play a role here that "the best" saddle does not even exist &
can’t exist. You just have to look at what suits best for you. We are happy to advise you
within a saddle service appointment. That’s how we can take a closer look at you and your horse to show you a few of our saddles and find the perfect one for you.
Of course you are welcome to test different saddles to find out which suits best, but we also like to check an already existing saddle together with you and see how we can optimally adapt it to your needs. Sometimes is even easier done than expected. So don’t be afraid and arrange a saddle service appointment with us.

Which seat size does my saddle have?
You can easily measure the seat size of your saddle. Simply measure from one of the two saddle nails at the front diagonally to the middle of the edge of the Efter. With the value in cm you can
then simply calculate the seat size in inches.

For example: 43.5 cm x 2.56 = 17 "
Of course, this is not always 100% accurate measure, so you usually get an approximation
of the actual inch size. That's not wild. The seat size is then always the next closest number. For example, if you come to 17.3" or 16.8", then your saddle has definitely an 17” tree.

Can I get girthstraps in special length for my saddle?
Sure, that's not a problem. You can just order our regular girthstraps via our webshop and add a short note at the end of your order with your desired length. We will then make a girthstrap fitting to your needs.

How long does it take to repair my saddle?

Here we would just have to talk to each other briefly. So give us a call.
Because: This depends on how much is currently going on in our saddlery and what you want to have changed. Generally we are always trying to make changes or repairs as good, but also as fast as possible, so that you do not have to wait too long.
